Jose first started with VCA West LA in 1990 as a “runner” (support staff of both front office and medical team) and was then quickly promoted as a veterinary assistant followed by veterinary technician. In 1996, he was then promoted to Director of Technical Services and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the veterinary technical staff at VCA West LA. In 2002, Jose departed VCA West Los Angeles and joined the army as an Army Aviator. He was stationed and deployed to various cities and involved with operations including navigation of Black Hawk helicopters. He has most notably been recognized and credited with rescues of over hundreds of people and pets, including the relief effort in response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Jose was honorably discharged from the Army in 2010 and began a civilian aviation career in Louisiana. Jose is rated as an Airline Transport Pilot – Helicopter (ATP)
and has multiple ratings in various military and civilian helicopters. Though Jose was very dedicated to his military career, he also continued to pursue educational and academic achievements simultaneously. He received a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Aeronautical (2006) through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Daytona Beach, Florida and obtained a Masters in Diplomacy from Norwich University (2010). He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Business Administration through Pepperdine University.
Jose rejoined VCA West LA in August 2017 as the Director of Operations and is now the Hospital Administrator
