The condition of your cat’s coat can tell you a lot about his or her health. All cats benefit from regular brushing. Brushing removes loose hairs, dead skin cells, parasites, debris, and dirt, as well as redistributes your cats natural skin oils. Daily brushing will also minimize the amount of hair that a cat will swallow during the course of self-grooming, thus reducing the number of hairballs your cat may develop. Cats with long or curly coats may require daily brushing to keep them free of tangles or painful, matted hair. Cats with short hair coats may require less frequent brushing.
