Caring for pets means meeting a wide range of needs beyond health care. Fortunately, there’s a whole community of organizations and businesses eager to help.

Here’s where to meet the local groups that we recommend to our pet-loving families.

Cat Tales

VCA Shoreline has recently partnered with Cat Tales Inc., a Connecticut-based, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the quality of life and improving the well-being of abused, neglected and abandoned cats and kittens within our community.

On Saturday April 5th 2014, VCA Shoreline, Cheshire and Norwalk, proudly joined Cat Tales in supporting their mission by becoming a sponsor of their annual “Cats in the Castle” fundraiser and wine tasting event, which was held at the St. Clements Castle in Portland, Connecticut. With many donated items being raffled off at the live auction, the biggest prize of the evening was an African Safari for two!

VCA was proud to donate a large gift basket that included over $350 of cat supplies and services, as well as many other giveaways for pet care and health. We were thrilled to be a part of such a fantastic event that raised over $11,000!

We look forward to our continued collaboration with Cat Tales Inc. throughout the year.

CT SART - Connecticut State Animal Response Team

CTSART is based on a similar program in North Carolina, NCSART, which was founded after Hurricane Floyd claimed more than 3 million domestic and farm animals. Many could have been saved by a coordinated emergency response plan.

CTSART is based on the principles of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) . Its functions involve a coordinated effort between governmental agencies and private organizations. Using ICS as a set of core principles, CTSART develops units addressing all aspects of disaster response on a regional basis within Connecticut.

Our structure is organized at the grassroots level as Regional Animal Response Teams(RART). RARTs are under the jurisdiction of local, Regional and state emergency management, and include animal control officers, cooperative extension, law enforcement, veterinarians, public health, agriculture and concerned citizens.

The Incident Command System (ICS) has been recognized by the Department of Homeland Security as the most effective system for managing emergencies. This system is a component of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Project Precious Rescue

PPR is a small scale rescue, and our animals are placed in carefully screened foster homes while they are waiting to find their forever homes - we do not have a facility/shelter.

Our Mission: The mission of PPR is to rescue adoptable animals who may otherwise face homelessness or death, and find them loving forever homes. Our goal is to provide the best veterinary care, and we strive to place our animals in carefully screened homes that best match their needs. We rely solely on donations, and do not profit from our work. We rescue on our terms - dogs and cats, and do not discriminate against age/breed.

PPR believes every animal deserves a second chance!

Waggle

Waggle is the only pet-dedicated crowd-funding platform that partners directly with leading veterinary providers to reduce economic euthanasia in pets, thereby giving options to pet guardians and second chances to the pets they love.

The critical partnership between Waggle and veterinary partners ensures that recipients are vetted and truly in need – a claim other crowd-funding platforms can’t guarantee and makes Waggle unique. For added security, funds are released directly to veterinary partners and not to pet guardians.

Donors make a significant impact on the lives of pets and their guardians in a self-sustaining, radically transparent way. They can also choose to follow the treatment and recovery of the animal they have sponsored – and take pride in knowing that their donation has saved a life.
