As a Berkeley native, Dr. Anna Nomura dreamed of becoming a veterinarian from a very young age, and was an active volunteer in local veterinary hospitals and dog training clubs. She received a B.S. in biology from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Prior to veterinary school, she worked for two years as a high school biology teacher in New York City during which time she obtained a Masters in Science Education. She received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a one year small animal rotating internship at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists and Emergency prior to joining the emergency team at VCA Bay Area Veterinary Specialists and Emergency.

Dr. Nomura has a special interest in toxicology, critical care, and pain management. In her spare time, Dr. Nomura enjoys dressage riding, dog training, and exploring the outdoors with her fiance and golden retriever Penny.

Emergency & Critical Care

COMPASSIONATE EXPERTISE - EMERGENCY & URGENT CARE 24/7

Doctors are on site and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide the finest medical care when your family veterinarian is unavailable. Patients are seen as walk-ins without appointments and as transfer referrals from your veterinarian. We have state-of-the-art therapeutic and diagnostic aids available for our experienced veterinarians and support staff.

Your pet will be seen by one of our emergency veterinarians as promptly as possible. Conditions requiring immediate treatment or involving life-threatening problems will be our first priority. Once stable, your pet may be released to you, returned to your primary veterinarian for continued care or transferred to one of our specialists should you and your family veterinarian elect to do so.

After your pet's comprehensive examination, presumptive diagnosis and prognosis, an estimate will be presented detailing recommended diagnostics and treatment. Your family veterinarian will also be notified/updated of your pet's visit via phone calls and faxes. Our staff is available 24/7 to answer questions about your pet's care.
