Dr. Espitia is a native of Northern California and has resided in the area since birth. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular & Cellular Biology in 2008 and went on to complete his doctorate of veterinary medicine at UC Davis in 2015. He then completed a rotating small animal internship at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists in 2016.

He is excited to be working as a full time emergency clinician at VCA Bay Area Veterinary Specialists. He has always enjoyed working with his hands and views emergency medicine as an excellent field to do so, as well as help our animal companions when they need help the most.

In his spare time, Dr. Espitia enjoys weightlifting, exercising, and collecting bow ties. His favorite time however, is couch potato time with his 9 year old border collie Elyse and 1 year old lionhead rabbit Gunter.

Emergency & Critical Care

COMPASSIONATE EXPERTISE - EMERGENCY & URGENT CARE 24/7

Doctors are on site and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide the finest medical care when your family veterinarian is unavailable. Patients are seen as walk-ins without appointments and as transfer referrals from your veterinarian. We have state-of-the-art therapeutic and diagnostic aids available for our experienced veterinarians and support staff.

Your pet will be seen by one of our emergency veterinarians as promptly as possible. Conditions requiring immediate treatment or involving life-threatening problems will be our first priority. Once stable, your pet may be released to you, returned to your primary veterinarian for continued care or transferred to one of our specialists should you and your family veterinarian elect to do so.

After your pet's comprehensive examination, presumptive diagnosis and prognosis, an estimate will be presented detailing recommended diagnostics and treatment. Your family veterinarian will also be notified/updated of your pet's visit via phone calls and faxes. Our staff is available 24/7 to answer questions about your pet's care.
