Michael R. Geist, Medical Director

Dr. Michael Geist grew up in Toronto, Canada and graduated from veterinary school at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2006. He completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Surgery at a private practice in Toronto. He then completed a Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. From 2009-2018, he practiced internal medicine at the VCA Animal Specialty Group in San Diego where he also served as their Medical Director for the past five years. Dr. Geist is very passionate about all aspects of veterinary internal medicine but immune-mediated diseases, gastroenterology including fecal microbiota transplantation, and endocrinology are of particular interest.

Dr. Geist moved from San Diego to Los Angeles with his beautiful and supportive wife, Carrie, and their perfect ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Indy. He is beyond excited for the next phase of life and his career as VCA West LA's Medical Director. He strives to maintain the hospital's great reputation as a leader and innovator in the veterinary field. It is his number one goal to provide outstanding patient care and service to all pets and clients who visit our great hospital.
