Doctors are always available (24/7, including holidays) for emergency surgery.  Conditions that may require emergency surgery include gastrointestinal foreign bodies, gastric dilitation and volvulus (GDV/Bloat and Twist), pyometra (infected uterus), abdominal hemorrhage, caesarian section, laceration/wound repair and many others.
